About

I am not a best-selling author (yet!), nor have I won any awards, nor am I a Pastor, or a confident Evangelist… I was not sure what to write for this author’s note, but having told you what I am not, I guess it would be a good idea to let you know what I am.

I am a Black British woman who grew up in Essex with white foster parents in the 70s. For a period, I was the only black kid in my school. Aged around 12, I went to live in Nigeria with my birth parents, then I was the only cockney in school. My sense of not fitting in gave rise to feelings of low self-esteem. This, more often than not, led to unwise decisions with painful consequences.

I had finally reached rock bottom when I was introduced to Jesus. I have now been a Christian for several years. I have served in various areas of the church - usually areas where I can help and support those in pain.

I think the most important thing for you to know is that I have experienced both the trials and the triumphs of life and been able to pull through with God’s help. I do not want to convince you that Christianity is a magic solution for all of our problems - it’s not. What I want to show is how walking with Jesus will always bring about better outcomes (even when in dark times), than walking alone.

When I became a Christian, I was an emotional mess. This is a book written out of some painful situations I have lived through and come out the other side of. Maybe the next book I write will be about my life and how I got into those situations. But this book is about God’s love and how He enabled me to experience freedom in some very troubling circumstances.

Through all my ups and downs, usually the downs, books have changed my life. I hope this book will change yours.
